Jakarta Governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama requested Jakarta Dept. of Water Management to stop using Netherlands’ procedure in operating Manggarai sluice gate.
Don’t close the gate or the water could overflow
It is because the water is only flowed to West Flood Canal (KBB) and often inundated the surrounding areas.
“Don’t close the gate or the water could overflow,” he said, Wednesday (3/2).
Basuki Asks Manggarai Sluice Gate Left OpenedAccording to him, the old procedure was made before Pluit reservoir, Pasar Ikan sluice gate and Gunung Sahari.
“Please divide the water into those three areas,” he added.
Manggarai sluice gate is only closed during dry season to avoid drought at upstream.
